Pakistan Announces Squad of 18 members for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England. Pakistan is warming up for the upcoming T20 World Cup through a tour of Ireland and England. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday, Pakistan Announced Squad an 18-man, which they will look to firm up their team composition for the mega event.
The team will start its program from the tour with a three-match T20I series against Ireland; and then, from the reigning T20 World Champions England, they will face a stiff test in a four-match series. The squad will, however, be trimmed to 15 players after the first T20I against England on 22nd of May to meet the ICC deadline of 24 May.
This is where I met some old friends. Most notable among returning players were those who had been excluded from the recent New Zealand series due to injury: fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali. The all-rounder Salman Ali Agha gets a call-up too.
Usama Mir and Zaman Khan, who were otherwise part of the squad, could not make it to the final selection, while intense contention for the remaining places prevailed. Some good news also came regarding injuries. Haris Rauf, Azam Khan, Mohammad Irfan Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan had failed fitness assessments ahead of the squad announcement for the last series against New Zealand. They have recovered well to a level where they can be considered fit for selection. Their induction will brighten up Pakistan’s chances in the upcoming series.
